Hi, I'm Marlia Mubeen.

I’m a Freelance Digital Marketing Strategist with 8+ years of experience in content and a background in marketing and business development. Marliasphere is the brand I built to bring all these experiences together and offer businesses thoughtful, personalised support across digital marketing, content, communication, and strategy.

Rooted in Thrissur

Thrissur is more than just the place I grew up in. It is where I completed my schooling and higher education, built some of my earliest experiences, and developed many of the values that continue to shape who I am today. From Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan to Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies and later FISAT, a significant part of my personal and academic journey has been rooted here.

Those years gave me much more than a formal education. Through different experiences, responsibilities, and opportunities, I learnt some of my first lessons in leadership, management, communication, teamwork, and taking responsibility. I learnt to work with people, adapt to situations, step forward when needed, and most importantly, learn from every experience. Looking back, many of those early lessons have quietly found their way into the way I work today.

The Career I Built Along the Way

My professional journey began with content writing, and what started as a career gradually became a craft I truly enjoyed. Over the past eight years, I have worked with words across different forms of content, from academic and business writing to website content, social media, and brand communication. With every project, I learnt to understand different audiences, adapt my voice, research deeply, and find the right way to communicate an idea.

But my career journey was about more than finding work. Coming from a fairly traditional family background, I was among the first in my family to explore the possibility of building a professional career from home. There was no ready-made example for me to follow, so I had to figure things out along the way. I built my career around the realities of my life, balancing family, responsibilities, and professional growth while continuing to learn and work.

That journey taught me endurance, consistency, and the importance of creating opportunities for yourself. I kept moving forward through different stages of life, never quite letting go of my desire to grow. Eventually, I realised that the different experiences I had collected over the years were all leading me towards something bigger.

From Content to Business

After years in content, I wanted to understand the other side of communication: the business behind it. Stepping into business development gave me that opportunity.

Working with clients, handling conversations, supporting lead generation, coordinating different activities, and understanding business requirements gave me a new perspective. I began to see how communication connects with relationships, how marketing connects with business goals, and how important it is to understand the bigger picture before creating a solution.

It was a different role, but it added an important layer to my experience. I was no longer looking at communication only from the perspective of the person creating it. I was beginning to understand it from the perspective of the business receiving it, using it, and growing through it.

Bringing It All Together

Along the way, I also had the opportunity to work closely with businesses and experience ideas becoming real.

With Alfouz Restaurant, I was involved from the early idea stage through to bringing the concept to life, contributing thoughts around branding, strategy, and business development. With CA Caters, I worked on social media content, where seeing people respond positively to the writing was especially rewarding.

These experiences helped me understand something I had been gradually discovering throughout my career: good marketing sits at the intersection of business, people, communication, and creativity.

And that realisation brought me back to where my interest had always been strongest: marketing.

The Next Chapter

Marketing had always been a part of my academic and professional journey. As the way businesses communicate and reach people continued to evolve, I wanted to understand the digital side of marketing more deeply and bring together everything I had learnt so far.

That led me to pursue specialised training in digital marketing at CDA Academy. The experience has helped me strengthen my practical understanding of digital marketing and explore how strategy, SEO, content, social media, websites, and other digital channels work together.

For me, this isn’t a complete change of direction. It feels more like bringing different pieces of my experience into one place.

Content gave me the words. Business development gave me the perspective. Marketing gave me the foundation. Digital gives me the direction.

Today, I am building Marliasphere as my freelance digital marketing practice, bringing together everything I have learnt across content, marketing, business development, and communication.

I don’t see marketing as a collection of isolated services. For me, it starts with understanding the business, its audience, its goals, and the story it wants to tell. From there, strategy, content, SEO, social media, communication, and other digital touchpoints can work together with purpose.

My aim is to be more than someone who simply completes a marketing task. I want to be a thoughtful strategic partner who understands the context behind the work and creates solutions that are relevant to the business.
